During the summer months members are involved in running a number of bat walks and courses for the public. Please click here to view our summer 2010 events.

We will be running a series of bat surveys in Gosforth Central Park. This is a new bat walk and we hope to find pipistrelle activity at least.

• Saturday, August 07, 2010 - Bat Night at Plessey Woods Country Park: meet at 8:00 Come and here about the bats of Plessey then enjoy a walk around the woods to see what we can find using bat detectors. • Saturday, August 07, 2010 - Leazes Park in central Newcastle, meeting by the lake at 8:30 no booking necessary
• Tuesday August 10, 2010 - Survey of Northumberland County Hall, Morpeth MEMBERS ONLY can join the bat group on the night, an informal survey of bat use looking at the exterior of the building (refreshments provided!) contact Sam on 0191 410 7190 for more details
•  Friday 13th August, 2010  - bat walk with Northumberland Mammal Group at Gosforth Park meet at 8:00, booking via Natural History Society of Northumbria on 0191 2326386. It is nice woodland with a good range of bats present.
• Saturday, August 21, 2010 - Bat Hunt at Bolam Lake: find out the different species of Bolam. Starts with a bat talk and then walk at dusk. Bring torches and dress suitably. Bookings only please on 01661 881234. Children £1.00, Adults £3.50
